Medora
David Stidam, of Brownstown, passed away on September 17, 2026, at St Francis Hospital in Greenwood with his family by his side. He was 73.
David entered this life on April 12, 1953, in Bedford, Indiana. He was the third born to Calvin and Georgia (Evans) Stidam, He was the brother to Ruth Ann, Howard, Linda, Carolyn, and Steve.
David grew up in Medora and was a graduate of Medora Community Schools class of 1971. On November 14, 1980, in Tennessee he was united to the love of his life, to Vickie (Barkman) Stidam. He was a devoted father to Crystal, Billy, Stacey, Brandon, and Kimberly, and a proud Papaw to fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
He became a steel fabricator after high school. He worked for Indiana Steel, Sigma Steel, and Manchester Tank. After retiring he went to work for Jeff's Carwash in Brownstown and Seymour.
He was a die-hard IU fan. Football and basketball, he followed his Hoosiers through their highs and lows and was able to witness IU's first football championship. An outdoorsman and not one to sit still often riding his Harley Davidson or finding a good fishing hole to throw a line.
He was a member of Mountainview Baptist Church.
He leaves a legacy of love with his wife of almost 46 years, Vickie Stidam of Brownstown, children, Chris (Chrystal) Austin and her husband Jeff of Brownstown, Billy Caudill of Brownstown, Stacey Baker and her husband Chris of Mitchell, Brandon Stidam of Anderson and Kimberly Lee and her husband Webb of Freetown, sisters, Carolyn Sands of Medora and Linda Patton of North Carolina, brother Steve Stidam and his wife Kathy of Crothersville, and 22 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Ann Robinson, Brother Howard Stidam, grandson Dyllon Davis, and two nieces Amy Dean and Lora Lee Darlage.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday September 22, 2026, at Hague Funeral Home of Medora. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday September 21, 2026, and on Tuesday prior to the service starting at 11:00 am.
Memorials may be written in David's name to the Medora Community School Athletic Fund.
