Obituary

Haylee Lee Sons, of Medora, passed away on the early morning of September 9, 2026, at IU Hospital in Bloomington from injuries sustained from an automobile accident outside of Bloomington.  She was 19 years old.


Haylee entered this life on July 30, 2007, in Seymour, Indiana. She was the daughter of Bridget Johnson. She grew up in Medora and was a 2025 graduate from Medora Community High School and was Salutatorian of her class. Forever, a Medora Hornet, she played for the volleyball team and the basketball team, was a member of the Future Farmers of America, the Book Club, The Computer Club, the Beta Club, and served on the student council.


Haylee was the rock to her siblings. As a sister, she took this role seriously. Often times, she would step into the role of mama hen. Haylee made sure to spend time with each of them to make sure they knew they were loved. Haylee was always trying to do what was good to be a positive example for her siblings to follow. Her love had no bounds.


She was a crew member for McDonalds in Brownstown, and Franklin, and a caregiver to her Aunt Pam.


She will be forever missed by her mother, Bridget Johnson, siblings, Wesley Holstine, Cody Johnson, Logan Edwards, and Kimberly Prewitt, boyfriend Jake Richie, Grandpa Brad Holstine, great grandparents Becky and Ron Zirkle, aunts and uncles, Kim and Jason Allman, Greg and Melissa Spence, Billy Cornett, and Pamela Sims


She was preceded by her grandma, Staci Holstine.


A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday September 19, 2026, at the White River Valley Cemetery of Medora.


Memorials are to be written in Haylee's name to the Medora Community School Athletics Department.


Final wishes have been entrusted to Hague Zabel Funeral Home of Medora.
