Obituary

Linda Jean McGill, of Freetown, passed away on the morning of June 6, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. She was 80 years old.

Linda entered this life on June 20, 1944, in Clear Spring, Indiana. She was the last daughter born to Noble "David" and Kathryn (Weddell) Nowland.  She grew up in Clear Spring before moving to Freetown.  On September 27, 1978, at Hound Holler, she was united in marriage to Roger Glen McGill. Together they raised Kenny, Glenda, Charles, Dennis, Darryl, Patty, Mike, and Everett.

Linda was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and Mam-maw Gill.  She was a member of the Good Sheperd Lutheran Church of Medora and read her bible daily. Linda worked in several factories before getting her dream job in road construction, being the flag holder. After Roger's health declined, she retired to care for him.

Linda enjoyed going to yard sales throughout Jackson County and the surrounding areas. She amassed a collection of over 1400 glass trinkets and collectables.

She will be forever cherished by her husband of 46 years Roger McGill of Freetown, her children, Glenda Collins of Norman, Charles McGill of California, Dennis McGill and his wife Elyse of Seymour, Darryl Collins and his wife Sandra of Greenfield, Mike McGill and his wife Joni Jo of Freetown and Everett McGill of Wabash, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, her children, Kenneth Collins and Patty Charles, her siblings, Samuel "Buddy" Nowland, Noble Nowland, Jr., Marilyn Collins, Robert D. Nowland, John W. Nowland, grandchildren April Collins, Christopher Collins, TJ Williams, and a great-grandson Dylan Collins.

Funeral services will be conducted at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Janis Mikits officiating. Burial will follow at Weddellville Lutheran Cemetery.
