Alice Baker Obituary

Alice Ann (Woods) Baker, of Columbus, entered her eternal life on April 11, 2026, at Our Hospice of Southern Indiana with her family by her side. She was 96 years old.

Alice entered this life on April 8, 1930, in Medora, Indiana. She was the youngest of three children born to Louis and Strussa (Sullivan) Woods. She was the little sister to Mary Lou and Joe Ira.  Alice grew up in Medora and graduated from Medora Community Schools in 1948.  Alice was united in marriage to Bill Eastin in 1950.  From this union they were blessed with a daughter Linda.  Bill preceded Alice in 1975.  Alice found love again, and married Donald Baker in Franklin, Tennessee on July 23, 1977. 

Alice was a devoted Christian wife, loving mother, and a special grandmother.  Alice had a career in sales.  She worked for the Sears Company for over 17 years working in Seymour IN, Ft Myers FL, and Greenwood IN. She sold furniture for Kittles Furniture Store and Brads Furniture and then sold mobile homes for Orchard Lake Mobile Homes of Seymour. 

She leaves behind legacy of love with her husband of 44 years, Donald Baker of Columbus, daughter Linda Eastin Porter of Indianapolis, sons Barry Baker of Medora, Donnie Baker and his wife Candy of Indianapolis, and Mark Baker and his wife Lucy of Columbus, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Lou Withers and brother Joe Ira Woods, and a great grandson Broady Kribbs.

A graveside Memorial Service will be conducted at Beem Cemetery of Medora at a later date. 

Memorials may be written in Alice’s name to the Medora United Methodist Church or Humane Society of Columbus through the funeral home
