Annette Bachmann Obituary

Annette Priscilla (Kaun) Bachmann, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully in the night of December 14, 2020 at Hoosier Christian Village. She was 86.

Annette entered this life on May 22, 1934 in Hales Corner Wisconsin. She was the loving daughter of Raymond and Edna (Koerber) Kaun. Annette attended Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois, This is where she met her future husband Raymond. On June 9, 1956 she married the love of her life, Ray Bachmann at Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha, Wisconsin. This union of 64 years was blessed with three children, Rebekah, Stephen, and Esther.

Annette was a devoted wife, loving mother, a huggable Grandma, Great-Grandma, and a Great-Great Grandma. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Wegan.

Annette taught elementary education for over 11 years in the Decatur, Indiana area , before moving to Brownstown in 1974. She was very active in the Brownstown community. Annette served as the Jackson County Civil Defense Director and the Area Director for the Indiana Civil Defense Council.

 She was a member of Jackson County Extension Homemakers, a Mediport Driver for the Area XI Agency on Aging, a member of the Brownstown Business & Professional Women, where she was a recipient of the Jennie Scott Award, and served on the Watermelon Festival Princess Committee.

She leaves a legacy of love with her husband Ray Bachmann of Brownstown, her children, Rebekah Spurgeon and her significant other Greg Tormoehlen of Springfield, KY, Stephen Bachmann and wife Cheree of Kokomo, seven grandchildren, Ruth Nangle, Elee Crawford and her husband Aaron, Jerre Spurgeon, Jonathan Spurgeon and his wife Katie, Wesley Spurgeon, Stephanie Martin and her husband Joey, and Lynne Marie Tormoehlen, several great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren,  three sisters, Virginia Meyer of Neenah, WI , Jeanette Bryan and her husband Jim of Neenah, WI, Margaret Minks and her husband Gail of Neenah, WI, and a brother Fred Kaun and his wife Barbara of Neenah,WI, a Sister-in-law Betty Jane Kaun of Wykoff, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Esther Tormoehlen,  a brother Charles Kaun, and a brother-in-law Ronald Meyer

Funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church Wegan on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Martin Keller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 4:00-8:00pm at Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown and on Saturday after 12:00 noon

Memorials may be written in Annette’s name to Lutheran Central School, Trinity Lutheran High School, the Jackson County History Center, or to the donor’s choice.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
