Billy Noland Obituary

Billy Wayne Noland, of Seymour, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on the early morning of April 29, 2023. He was 73 years old.

Billy entered this life in Pekin, Indiana on December 23, 1949. He was the 5th born to the late Forest P. and Cora M. (Scribner) Noland. He was the brother of Jim, Dan, Anna Mae, Nancy, Melinda and Jessy. Billy grew up in Washington County and met the love of his life Marva (Crady) Noland at a 4th of July Dance. It was love at first sight and they were united in marriage on June 13, 1967. From this union they were blessed with three children, Marvin, Donna, and Melissa. Billy felt the calling to serve, and he signed up to serve in the US Army.  In 1971 he joined the US Army and was assigned to the 68th Engine Company of Ft. Bliss, TX and was ordered to serve in Germany. Billy was a family man, so he packed his family up and headed to Germany. After leaving Germany, he settled back in Pekin, Indiana, and further served for the Indiana National Guard. Billy became a man of many skills and he applied this to many aspects of his life. He went to work for the Eastern Washington School Corporation in Pekin as a custodian and went to work for Super Fitness and traveled back and forth from Indianapolis to Louisville. This travelling on the road, he decided to try a new adventure and became a truck driver. Billy drove for several years until his retirement.  

Billy was a devoted husband, loving father and papaw to his grandchildren. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing.  Billy was a member of the Saddle Club of Pekin. He loved riding horses and spent many beautiful days on the horse trails. Billy loved softball. He became a coach for his children, and grandchildren. He also would give advice to his great-grandchildren on how to play the game also.

He leaves loving memories with his wife of over 65 years Marva Noland of Seymour, daughters, Donna Hobson and her husband Mark of Seymour, and Melissa Long and her husband Michael of Salem, grandchildren, Marvin Noland, Jr, Wesley Hunt and his wife Brittini, Marissa Hatchett and her husband Jeremy, Amber Dunn and her significant other Carl Daulton, Logan Dunn and his wife Andrea, Michael Hobson, Gunnar Hobson and his wife Lyndsey, Skylar Hobson, Taylor Martin and her fiancé Dustin Day and Nolan Long, and 16 great-grandchildren, sisters Anna Mae Brock of Tennessee, Nancy Purlee and her husband Mike of Salem, IN,  Melinda Pennington of Scottsburg, and Judy Thompson of Salem, IN  and a brother Jessy Noland of Pekin, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Noland, brothers, Jim Scribner, and Dan Noland

A Celebration of Billy’s life will be conducted on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Hague Funeral Home of Medora with Pastor Matt Roberts officiating

Billy’s Final Salute will be presented by the US Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Vets 47, and the Vietnam Vets 7.

Frinds may visit on Saturday, May 13 from 12 noon until time of the service at Hague Funeral Home

Memorials may be in written in Billy’s name to the American Legion.
