David C. Smith, age 80, of Medora, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2020, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

David entered this life on February 12, 1939, on the family farm in Medora. He was the loving son of Mark and Jessie (Browning), Smith. David was a graduate of Medora High School Class of 1957.  On June 20, 1960, he married the love of his life, Sandra S. (Boyd) Smith at Good Sheperd Lutheran Church of Medora. Sandy preceded him on May 5, 2002.  From this union, they were blessed with two sons, Michael and Jeffrey. He was a loving father and Papaw to his family, David was a member of Good Sheperd Lutheran Church and later attended Medora Christian Church. David specialized in maintenance, having worked for the Medora Plastics Factory, United Technologies of Edinburgh, and finished out his career at the Medora Community School.  He was an avid woodworker and a fix-it-all kind of gentleman.  

Surviving to cherish his memories are his sons: Michael Smith MD, and Jeffrey Smith, two grandchildren: Morgan Smith, Nick Smith, and his fiancé Tabby, two great-grandchildren: Arrabella and Laityn Smith; and a brother, Jim Smith and his wife Ruth Ann, and sister-in-law Joann Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Sandy, his parents, and a brother Howard (Howdy) Smith

Funeral Services will be held at Hague Funeral Home of Friday, January 17, 2020, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Stan Thomas officiating

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery of Brownstown.

Friends may visit at Hague Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 4:00-8:00 pm and after 11:30 am on Friday until the time of the service.

Memorials may be written in David’s name to Indiana Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society
