Doris V. Wheeler of Seymour passed away on the evening of March 16, 2025, at Seymour Crossing. She was 89 years old.
Doris entered this life on February 21, 1936, at Medora Knobs. She was the youngest daughter of the loving parents of Willard and Georgia (Cockerham) Reynolds. She attended Clear Spring School. On May 20, 1967, at the Weddleville Lutheran Church she married Ronnie Wheeler. This blessed union raised five children, Patricia, Brenda, Ronald, Danny, and Debra. Wayne preceded Doris on July 13, 1986
Doris was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Doris collected angels and she would give these angels to people special to her. She was also a wonderful cook and always made sure no one left her house hungry.
Doris served as a waitress for Midway truck Stop, and then at The Stop 50 of Seymour. She retired after 30 years of serving travelling families and truckers who were passing through the area.
Doris is leaving a legacy of love for her family to forever cherish. Her children, Patricia Anderson of Seymour, Brenda Beavers of Medora, Ronald Piatt and his wife Kaye of Seymour, and Debra Luenebrink of North Vernon, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a daughter-in-law Joyce Piatt vs45 b .
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne Wheeler, son, Danny Piatt, a sister Mary Stepp, and 3 brothers, Henry Reynolds, Don Reynolds, and Leo Reynolds, sons-in-law Richard Beavers, and Roger Luenebrink, and a grandson, Barry D. Williams.
Funeral service will be conducted at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora at 1:00 pm on Wednesday March 19, 2025, with Pastor Janis Mikits officiating. Burial will follow at Weddleville Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday March 19, 2025, from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm.
Memorials may be written in Doris’s name to the Good Shephard Lutheran Church of Medora.
