Edward Price Obituary

Edward W. “Bud” Price, of Freetown, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on the night of October 22, 2020. He was 76 years old.

Bud entered this life on February 26, 1944 in Medora, Indiana.  He was the son of Everett Price and Mary (Reynolds) Stepp. He was raised by his grandparents Willard and Georgia (Cockerham) Reynolds. He was a graduate from Clearspring High, Class of 1962.  Bud was united in marriage to Sharon Deitz Price on March 27, 1963 at St. Peters Lutheran Church of Brownstown. From this union he was blessed with four children, Andy, Penny, Jenny and Danita.  Sharon preceded Bud on February 22, 2011.

Bud was able to find love again when he met and later married Jennie (Malson) Price on November 12, 2017 in Seymour, and with this union he was blessed with another daughter Nicole.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, and Grandpa. Bud never met a stranger.

Bud loved spending time outdoors. He could be found fishing, hunting, or sitting out on his front porch. Bud was an accomplished bowler and would travel to bowling tournaments and would usually walk away with the trophy. Bud loved the sport of baseball and softball. Bud coached for Little League Baseball for many years, He would help maintain the ball diamonds so that the kids could have a place to play. He also played softball with the Cummins Softball team.  He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora. He worked for Cummins Engine of Seymour and retired after 30 years as a machine operator. Bud was also the caretaker of Weddleville Lutheran Cemetery  

He leaves a legacy of love with his family; his wife, Jennie Price, his four  daughters, Penny Persinger and her husband Mark of Freetown, Jenny Ridge her partner Cher Beebee  of Lexington, KY, Danita Robertson and her husband Dale of St. James, MO,  and Nicole McIntosh Hayes and her husband Josh of Freetown, grandchildren, James Persinger and his wife Abby of Columbus, Kathryn Gill of Freetown, Kimberly Burns and her husband Richard of Hope, Christopher Thompson and his wife Elisabeth of Columbus, Julie Davis of Lexington, KY, Victoria White and her husband Levi of French Lick, Cassandra Jones and her husband Joshua of Dixon, MO, Jake Axsom of Hayden, Brooklyn Reynolds of Freetown, and AJ Axsom of Freetown, two brothers, Dennis Cockerham of North Vernon, and Donnie Cockerham of Seymour, five sisters, Connie Winegar of Florida, Cindy Branaman of Seymour, Marcie Collins of Seymour, and Debbie Reynolds of Seymour, and Bobbi Bowman of Muncie, his aunt Doris Wheeler of Seymour, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, his first wife, Sharon, a son, Andy, a daughter Tammy, a brother, Bill Cockerham, Jr. three sisters, Jo Cockerham, Anne Rogers and Elaine Tomlin.

Funeral Service will be conducted at Hague Funeral Home on Monday October 26, 2020 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jack Belk officiating. Burial will follow at Weddleville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may visit at Hague Funeral Home on Sunday October 25, 2020 from 2:00- 6:00 pm and on Monday after 10 until the time of the service.

Memorials may be written in Bud’s name to Weddleville Lutheran Cemetery
