Gladys Irene Dotson, of Medora, passed away at her home on September 23, 2020. She was 89 years old.

 

Irene entered this life on November 11, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of Peter K. and Emily (Roper) Dewar and the youngest sister to Elizabeth, Helen, Donald, and Marion.  Irene grew up in Speedway, Indiana and graduated from Speedway High in 1948.  She was united in marriage to Courtney J. Dotson, Jr. on September 6, 1953 in Indianapolis. With this union they were blessed with a son, Allen.  Irene followed her husband from Indianapolis to Port Huron, Michigan, before settling in Medora, Indiana in 1981. Courtney preceded her on September 19, 2013.

 

Irene was a loving mother and grandma. She worked for Linkbelt Foundry/ FMC for over 30 years. She attended Medora Christian Church. She was very artistic with everything she did, from her drawings to her growing flowers.  Irene loved her dogs, and always had dogs to help keep her active.  

 

Irene will be missed by her son, Allen Dotson and his wife Lynne Kolze of St. Paul Minnesota, her grandchildren Laura Dotson and Ian Dotson of St. Paul, and many nieces and nephews

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sisters.

 

Graveside services for Irene will be on Friday October 9, 2020 at White River Valley Cemetery at 12:00 noon. 

Friends may gather at White River Valley Cemetery on Friday after 10:00 am until time of the service

 

Memorials may be written in Irene’s name to Red Sky Rescue or to the Arthritis Foundation

 

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Hague & Zabel Funeral Homes of Medora.
