James Dale Edwards

James “Jim” Dale Edwards, of Heltonville, passed away on the earling morning of March 5, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was 56 years old.

Jim entered this life on June 16, 1967 in Bedford, Indiana. He was the only son born to Dorsey and Janet G. (Umphress) Edwards and the little brother to Kimberly. Jim grew up on the Jackson-Lawrence County line and attended Brownstown Central High School. He was a graduate class of 1985.

Jim was united in marriage to Marcella Elizabeth Brooking on August 15, 1992 at Mundell Christian Church of Heltonville. From this union they were blessed with two sons, James Cody and Bret Cory.  Jim was a devoted husband, and loving father.  He was a gun enthusiast, and an outdoorsman. When it was in season he would be found out in the woods hunting deer, squirrel, rabbits, and bird. And when hunting season was out, he was out looking for a good fishing hole.    

Jim was a 33-year welder by trade. He started out welding for Arvin Industries and after 15 years, he went to Toyota Industries. Jim welded for another 18 years until his retirement.

He leaves a legacy of love with his wife of 32 years Marcella, his two sons Cody Edwards and his wife Ashland of Leesville, and Bret Edwards of Heltonville, two grandchildren Harley and Reed, his father Dorsey Edwards of Brownstown, his sister Kimmy Whitted and her husband Doug of Norman.

He was preceded by his mother.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Mundrell Christian Church Cemetery of Heltonville with Pastor Dennis Parsley officiating.
