Jerry Shepard, age 80, of Medora, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 19, 2019, at the Covered Bridge Health Campus surrounded by his loving family. What an amazing blessing to have Jerry pass into Heaven the same day our Lord and Savior died for us.
Jerry entered life on September 9, 1938, in Medora, Indiana to the late George and Irene (Flynn) Shepard. Jerry was a 1956 graduate of Medora High School. He married the love of his life Georgiann (Barlow) Shepard on April 12, 1957, at Medora Christian Church. The union of 62 years was blessed with two children, Perry Lynn, and Jennifer Paige. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and Pappy to his family. He worked at Thompson Dairy, Arvin, Cummins, and Reliance Electric, from which he retired. In his spare time, he was an avid woodworker, pitched horseshoes (made it to state finals), and tinkered with anything mechanical. But he greatly enjoyed fishing and coaching his grandkids on the art of basketball. Jerry was of Christian faith and a member of Medora Christian Church.
Surviving to cherish his memories is his wife, Georgiann; his children, Perry Shepard and his wife Lenetta Gail, Paige Earl and her husband Frank; three grandchildren, Emyrald Allen and her husband Eddie, Teia Thomas and her fiancé Christopher Cooper, and Shepard Joe Earl; five great-grandchildren, Kyra and Kymber Allen, Vayden Allen, and Camden and Gunner Cooper; and one niece, Brenda Flannigan and her husband Tom.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Alma Hammond.
A memorial graveside service will be on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Proctor Cemetery Dixon Chapel. Pastor Donnie Wineinger will be officiating. He will be greatly missed by all, but we know we will see each other again.
On RV vacations, he would sing as we left on all of the journeys, ‘We’re on the road again”. Dad… what an amazing journey you're having now!
Hague Funeral Home of Medora is handling all final wishes of the family.
Memorials may be given to Medora Goes Pink.
