Mark Allan Edwards, of Clear Spring, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday May 2, 2024. He was 64 years old.

Mark entered this life on October 15,1959 in Seymour, Indiana. He was the middle-born child of Denver Sr. and Myrtle (Charles) Edwards. The younger brother to Hazel and Denver Gene, Jr and older brother to Donna and Cathy Jo.  Mark spent most of his life in Jackson County, only leaving to go bring his bride home and to serve in the US Army. He met the love of his life, Debra at Starve Holler, and chased her from Indiana to Illinois until she agreed to marry him. On February 14, 1982, Mark and Deb were united in marriage at Mark’s sister, Hazel’s house.  This marriage of over 42 years was blessed with 4 children, Alisha, Eric, Jonathon, and Azalia. After forging his parents’ signature, Mark joined the US Army. His service only lasted a few months before the Army figured out his age, and he was sent back to Jackson County.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and Papaw River. He earned the Papaw River name from his grandchildren because of the amount of time he spent down at the river. If he wasn’t at home, he would be at the cabin on the river. Mark was a self-employed contractor. He specialized in home construction but was known to work as a mechanic to help friends out. Mark was loved by his river family.

His survivors include his wife, Debra of Clear Spring, his mother Myrtle Edwards of Seymour, children Alisha Edwards of Sparksville, Eric Edwards of Clear Spring, Jonathon Edwards and his wife Kerri of Seymour, and Azalia Douglas of Clear Spring, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, brother Denver Gene Edwards and his wife Laura of Freetown, sisters Hazel Wilson of Seymour and Donna Horn and her boyfriend Chad of Commiskey.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister Cathy Jo Stout and a grandson Caden Grove.

A gathering of friends to share stories of Marks life will be from 12noon – 2:00 pm on Thursday May 9, 2024, at Hague Funeral Home of Medora
