Mary Rose Guthrie, of Medora, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2020 at her home. She was 79 years old.
Mary entered in this life on December 8, 1940 in Tunnelton, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of Stanley and Margaret (Flinn) Guthrie and the loving sister of Harriett Imogene Guthrie.
On July 20, 1957 in her parents’ home, she was united in marriage to Donald Guthrie. This union of 62 years was blessed with a son Troy.
Mary formerly worked for the Medora Egg Company, Medora Plastic Company, and as a cook at Medora Community Schools. She retired from serving lunches to her students after 40 years.
Mary was a loving mother and loved being a grandmother to Mitchell and Rebecca. She was a member of Medora United Methodist Church.
She leaves a legacy of love to her family, her husband, Donald, a son Troy Guthrie and his wife Teresa of Washington, Indiana, Grandchildren Rebecca Guthrie of Johnson City, TN, and Mitchell Guthrie of Camp Pendleton, CA.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Imogene.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Medora United Methodist Church on Monday July 13, 2020 at 11:00 am with Pastor Lennie Lawrence and Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at White River Valley Cemetery.
Friends may visit at Hague Funeral Home of Medora on Sunday July 12, 2020 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm and on Monday after 10:00 at the church.
Memorials may be written in Mary’s name to Schneck Cancer Center.
