Max Hinderlider Obituary

Lowell Max Hinderlider, of Medora passed away on the morning of July 14, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.

Max entered this life on June 11, 1936, in Medora, Indiana. He was the fourth born to the loving parents of Gerald and Eva (Martin) Hinderlider. Max grew up in Medora and was a graduate of Medora Community Schools, Class of 1954.  In 1959, Max felt the calling to go serve his country and joined the US Army. He was an Ordnance Supply Specialist and was stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1961.  While serving in the Army, he married the love of his life, Arlene (Ray) Hinderlider in Uniontown, Indiana. This union of over 61 years was blessed with three children, Kyle, Karen and Kim.

Max was a devoted husband, father and Papaw. He was a dedicated provider for his family. He was never one to sit still long. He could be found watching IU Basketball, cruising the country roads, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a 60-year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #655 and a member of the Carr Township Conservation Club.

Max worked for Arvin Industries for over 20 years, then went to the Medora Plastics Factory for 13 years, and then went to work for the City of Medora. He retired after 28 years of serving the residents of Medora.

 He leaves a legacy of love with his family, wife Arlene of Medora, his children, Kyle Hinderlider of Seymour, Karen Hinderlider of Medora, and Kim Brock and her husband Troy of Medora, ten grandchildren, Heather Hinderlider and her significant other Jeremy Gray, Lacey Brock and her significant other DJ Monde, Casey Fields and her husband Josh, Jesse Brock and his wife Kassidy, Logan Miser and his wife Mattie, Kayla Hinderlider, Hanna Hinderlider, and Josh Quintero, great-grandchildren, Katelyn Stewart and her husband Kirk, Austin Holmes and his wife Jalynn, Autumn Holmes, Gatlin Holmes, Recker Gray, Isaiah Miller, Carter Monde, Aubrey Fields, Bentley Fields, Carley Fields, Kaisin Brock, Kylis Brock, Paytyn Brewer, Korbin Brock, Paisley Brock, Cami Mitchell, Kalen Miser, Ozzie Miser, Landon Hinderlider, Laykin Hinderlider, Kyler Briner, and three great-great-grandchildren, Kinley, Vierrah, and Ella,and a brother, Marion Hinderlider and his wife Nancy of Brownstown, and several nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Hall, and two brothers, Kenneth Hinderlider and Joseph Hinderlider, and a great-granddaughter Avery Brock.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Hague Funeral Home of Medora on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 11:00 am with Pastor Stan Thomas officiating.

Max’s final salute will be conducted by the Veteran of Foreign Wars post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disable American Veterans 47 and the Vietnam Vets 7 at Weddleville Cemetery.

Friends may visit on Sunday July 17, 2022, from 3:00-7:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until time of the service.

Memorials may be written in Max’s name to Medora School Athletic Department, or to Schneck Hospice.
