Melody Taggart, of Brownstown, passed away on the afternoon of May 30, 2024 at her home. She was 64.

Melody entered this life on July 24, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the second born to Larmie and Cherry (Beard) Hubbard.

She was a devoted mother, and loving Grandma. She loved playing cards and loved spending time being “Grandma.”  Melody served as a  waitress until landing and joining  The Tribune. She started as a paper assembler/ sorter and then worked her way up to team leader. She retired from the Tribune in 2004.

Her memories will be forever cherished by her 4 sons, Kojak Taggart of Freetown, Robert Taggart of New Albany, Patric Ponder of Brownstown, and Paul Ponder and his wife Christina of Brownstown,17 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kasity, Kooper, Catey, Keaton, Braydon, Levi, Gabriel, Jensin, Jocelyn, Jailyn, Rylee, Caitlyn, McKenna, Bella, and Aiden, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Linnie Hubbard of Oklahoma, and Clifton Hubbard of Bloomington, a sister Taffy Hubbard of Ft. Ritner, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Melody’s life will be conducted on Friday June 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
