Patricia (Eastin) Scott

Patricia Scott, of Medora, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 5, 2023, at Hoosier Christian Village. She was 89 years old.

Pat entered this life on May 24, 1933, in Medora, Indiana. She was the second born to Herbert and Iolene (Hinderlider) Eastin. Pat was the sister of Bill and Dixie. She was a graduate of Medora Community Schools, Class of 1951.  Pat was a cheerleader for the Medora Basketball Team that won their first and only sectional championship. After graduating high school, she went to work at Shepherd Market of Medora.

 On February 6, 1954, Pat was united in marriage to Ralph M. “Scud” Scott. From this union of over 55 years, they were blessed with a daughter, Myra. He preceded on December 28, 2009.  Pat stayed home to raise Myra. She reentered the workforce and went to work at Phillip’s Dairy Bar until she was called to work at Medora Community Schools. She retired after 16 years as custodian for the school.

Pat was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Grandma. She was a wonderful cook, and her family would fight over her famous pies. Pat loved the game of basketball. She and Scud would travel to different high schools in the area to watch the game. Together they saw Larry Bird and Damon Bailey play. They cherished the purity of high school basketball. Pat was an avid book reader. She would finish a book and trade books with her sister Dixie and other ladies of the community.

Her memories will be cherished by her family, daughter, Myra Mellencamp and her husband Jerry of Seymour, a granddaughter Leah Spurgeon and her husband Andrew of North Vernon, a sister Dixie Bane and her husband Glenn of Medora, a sister-in-law, Alice Eastin-Baker of Columbus, and nieces, Linda Porter of Indianapolis, Kristi Lane of Medora, Kerry Streigel of Brownstown, and Kalli Berry and her husband George of Medora.

She was preceded by her parents, and brother Bill Eastin.

Funeral Service will be conducted at Hague Funeral Home of Medora on Tuesday January 10, 2023, at 11:00 am with Pastor Bob Persinger officiating. Burial will follow at White River Valley Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday January 9, 2023, and after 10:00 am on Tuesday at Hague Funeral Home of Medora.

Memorials may be written in Pat’s name to the Medora Masonic Lodge, or the Resident Activity Fund of Hoosier Christian Village
