Ramona Gay (Guthrie) Owens

Ramona Gay Guthrie Owens, of Catawba, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021 at the Gordon Hospice House of Statesville with her loving family by her side. She was 60 years old.

Ramona entered this life on July 21, 1960 in Seymour, Indiana. She grew up in Medora, Indiana, and graduated from Medora Community School.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University.

Ramona was a social worker for several years in Richmond, IN. During this time, she met Keith Owens and on November 2, 1991 they were married.  Together they raised four children, Mitchell, Christopher, Thomas, and Aimee.

She was a devoted wife of over 29 years, loving mother, and Grandma. Ramona was of Christian Faith and was a member of the Forest Park Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC, a social worker and served as a substitute teacher for the local schools.

Surviving to cherish her memories are her husband Keith Owens, sons Mitchell Owens and his wife Evelyn, Christopher Owens, Thomas Owens, daughter Aimee Vaughn and her husband Josh, four grandchildren, Bailey, Cassy, Landon, and Sabina, her mother, Sharon Guthrie, maternal grandmother Eileen (Dolly) Ault, brother Daryle Guthrie, sister Donna Jones and her husband Buren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Guthrie, maternal grandfather Sylvester (Cotton) Ault and paternal grandparents Floyd and Nellie Guthrie.

A Funeral Service will be held at Medora Christian Church on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rob Johnson and Jeff McPike officiating. Burial will follow at Proctor Cemetery/Dixon Chapel.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 am until time of the service.
