Rita J. (Huffman) Booker

Rita J. Booker, of Sparksville, passed away peacefully on the late evening of January 18, 2024, at Hoosier Christian Village surrounded by her family. She was 67 years old.

Rita entered this life on September 12,1956 in Seymour, Indiana. She was the third child of the late Lyle Dale and Shirley (Umphress) Huffman. She grew up in Sparksville and attended Medora Community Schools. 

Rita was a devoted mother, and Mamaw. She was a stay-at-home mother until all her kids graduated school and then she went to work at the Perry Street Tavern.  She was the cook for over ten years. In her spare time she would find a good book and get lost in the story. She loved to read, she even took the time to read the Holy Bible multiple times. If she wasn’t reading, she was putting together puzzles, crocheting, or working cross word puzzles.

 Surviving to cherish her memories, her children, Missy Stewart and her fiancé Kevin Peters of White Creek, Matt Booker and his fiancé Amber Hackney of Ft. Ritner, and Jason Booker and his fiancé Joanna Chastain of Medora, grandchildren, Victoria Booker, Destiny Gray and her husband Jacob, Kirk Stewart and his wife Katelyn, Katie Stewart, Chase Booker and his wife Liz, Madison Booker, Cayden Booker, Skyler Thompson, Kiana Clegg and her husband Derek, and Hunter Browning, six great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Amber Booker of Medora, a brother Mike Huffman and his wife Debbie of Brownstown, and a sister Lisa Wilkerson of Brownstown, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark Booker and a brother Mark Lewis Huffman.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Hague Funeral Home on Tuesday January 23, at 10:30 am until time of the service.

Friends may visit on Monday January 22, 2024, at Hague Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 pm and after 9:30 am on Tuesday.

Memorials may be written in Rita’s name to Proctor Cemetery / Dixon Chapel
