Robert Rieckers, of Crothersville, passed away on the night of November 9, 2024, at his son’s home. He was 88 years old.

Robert entered this life on August 11, 1936, the first born to the late Edward and Elizabeth “Bertha” Rieckers. He was the older brother to Janet and Richard.

Robert was united in marriage to Wilma Marie (Darlage) Rieckers on November 10,1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers.  From this union of over 64 years they were blessed with a son, Ronald Rieckers.  Wilma preceded him in death on December 14, 2021. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. He served on several of the committees over his lifetime. He was a lifetime farmer and started driving a school bus in 1970 for St. John’s Lutheran School and later for the Brownstown School Corporation. He retired after 45 years of driving a bus. Robert served in the Indiana National Guard for 9 years.

Robert is survived by his son, Ron Rieckers and his wife Kathy of Brownstown, three grandchildren, Ross Rieckers of Crothersville, Katherine (Daniel) Rautenkranz of Brownstown, and Felicia (Pastor Ryan) Schneider of Brownstown, five great-grandchildren, Heidi and Ava Rautenkranz, and Elsie, John Robert, and Luke Alexander Schneider, sister Janet (Edward) Jaynes of Seymour, and brother Richard Rieckers of Seymour.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:00 am with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery

Friends may visit at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers on Friday November 15, 2024, from 9:00 am until time of the service.

Memorials may be written in Robert’s name to St. John’s Lutheran School Music Department, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, or to the Lutheran Hour.
