Ronald Lane Obituary

Ronald Allan Lane, of Medora, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022, at Greenwood Meadows Health Care in Greenwood Indiana. He was 84 years old.

Ron entered this life on March 22, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Lawrence and Edith (Myers) Lane.

Ron was a graduate of Canoga Park Senior High, Class of 1955. He then joined the US Air Force and served as an airman with the 2013th AACS Squadron.  After his honorable discharge from Air Force, he went to work for the US Immigration and Naturalization Service, in the Justice Department. Ron earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and furthered his education by earning his Master’s Degree from Tulane University of New Orleans, LA.  He was a retired Supervisory Immigration Officer. After retirement he started Hoosier Recycling in Medora. He was a former member of the Medora Masonic Lodge F & AM 328 and through The Scottish Rite he received the 32nd Degree in Freemasonry

Ron was of Christian Faith, and an avid IU Hoosier Fan. He could be found watching a IU games or listening to their sports on the radios. He loved being in the outdoors, especially during hunting season.

He leaves memories with his family, a daughter Ronetta “Chickey” Lane of Medora, and a son Conan Lane and his wife Jayme of Westfield, Indiana, two stepdaughters, Tammy Persinger of Medora, and Michelle Carmichael and her husband Kepton of Carmel and eight grandchildren, James Lane, Joshua Lane, Christopher Lane, Colten Lane, Brayden Lane, Landon Lane,  Keanon Kaeler, and Sam Persinger.

He was preceded by his parents, and a grandson, Cody Lane.

Ron’s Final Salute will be conducted on 2:00 pm on Wednesday September 28, 2022, at Dixon Chapel – Proctor Cemetery of Lawrence County by the American Legion Post 89, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disable American Veterans 47 and the Vietnam Vets 7.  Graveside service will be officiated by Pastor Stan Thomas.
