Ronald Frederick Otte

Ronald Frederick Otte, of Brownstown passed away peacefully on the night of March 4, 2021 at Hoosier Christian Village. He was 79.

Ron entered this life on April 5, 1941 in Seymour, Indiana to the loving parents Everett and Lura (Gildhouse) Otte, and the brother to Richard, Lois, Thelma, and Dorothy. Ron grew up in Seymour and graduated from Sheilds Highs School in 1959. After high school Ron went to Purdue University and earned his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture graduating in 1963.  Later in that year he married the love of his life Barbara (Sparks) Otte at the First Methodist Church in Seymour. This union was blessed with three children John, Kathy, and Susan.

Ron was devoted husband, father, and Papa. He was an excellent Bridge player and played in many of the local Bridge Clubs.  Sticking with his Purdue heritage, he loved watching Purdue sports. One may consider him a SUPER Purdue Fan. Ron was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and he served as an Elder for the church for many years.

Ron started the family farm and operated it for over 50 years

Ron leaves a legacy of love with his wife of 57 years, Barbara Otte, children, John Otte and his wife Shannon of Brownstown, Kathy Pritts and her husband Wayne of Grayslake, IL, and Susan Otte of Charlestown, In,  four grandchildren, Blake Otte and his wife Whitney, Brooke Otte, Jacob Pritts, and Claire Pritts, and one great-grandson Liam Otte, two sisters, Lois Rust and Thelma Greathouse, and a brother-in-law Louis Fleetwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard Otte, and a sister Dorothy Fleetwood.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Seymour on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Phillip Block and Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez, officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour

Friends may visit at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 pm.

Memorials may be written in Ron’s name to Immanuel Lutheran School, or to Trinity Lutheran High School

Arrangements have been entrusted to Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
