Ruby L (Cockerham) Wilson

Ruby L. Wilson, of Norman, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 9, 2021, at White River Lodge Nursing and Rehab of Bedford.  She was 89 years old.

Ruby entered this life on March 5, 1932, in Ewing, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Isaac and Dessie (Baughman) Cockerham.

On April 16, 1949, she married the love of her life, Edgar Wilson, Jr. in Brownstown, Indiana. This union of over 62 years was blessed with two children, Timothy “Tacky” and Dora Sue. Ruby was a devoted wife, loving mother and a cherished Mamaw. She was a homemaker and found joy in the outside, playing games, crocheting, creating crafts, drawing pictures, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Dora Fisher and her husband Jeff of Norman, two grandchildren, Ciara Rogers and her husband Trenton of Chesterfield, MO and Cody Wilson of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar Wilson, Jr. on October 10, 2011, son Timothy “Tacky” Wilson on June 2, 2008, a grandson Wilson “Willie” Fisher on August 1, 2019, and two brothers Donald “Bub” Cockerham and William “Willie” Cockerham and a sister Ruth Ann Hutton.

Funeral Service will be conducted at Zabel Funeral Home on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Lester Kauffman and Pastor Barry DeWitt officiating.

Burial will be at White River Valley cemetery of Medora.

Friends may call at Zabel Funeral Home on Saturday June 12, from 11:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 pm.

Memorials may be written in Ruby’s Name to the National Association of Mental Illness (Walk with Willie Team) or the American Cancer Society
