Sylvia England Obituary

Sylvia Davidson England, of Medora, passed away on the evening of July 3, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis with her loving family by her side. She was 87 years old.

Sylvia entered this life on June 21, 1936, in Oneida, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ciller (McQueen) Davidson. She was the sister to Edith, Blane, Dallas, Clarence, Dessi and Pam. She grew up in Medora and graduated from Medora Community School in 1953 at the age of 16. On July 31, 1954, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Leslie England. He survives. From this union of over 68 years, they were blessed with three boys, Robin, David, and Kenny.

Sylvia was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Grandma. When it came to being a Grandma, this was the role that Sylvia loved the most. She loved to get down in the floor and play games with her grandbabies.  She loved to travel and go try different restaurants with Les. She had a giving soul and loved to cook. She would often cook large meals, because no one needed to leave hungry. Her generosity in giving extended beyond her dining table, she was a charter member of the “Hope” Medora Goes Pink, and a charter member of the Carr Township Foundation. On these committees, Sylvia was able to help many families and local organizations with their financial needs. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora.
