Traci Dene Sowles Root, Elizabethtown, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at IU- Methodist Hospital on August 28, 2021. She was 43 years old.

Traci entered this life on March 30, 1978, in Mooresville Indiana. She was the loving daughter to Shirely Lotz and the younger sister to Kym.

Traci spent most of her life in Mooresville, until meeting the love of her life, Allen Root. They were united in marriage on September 28, 2019. He survives at the home.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and Ma to her grandkids. Traci loved spending time with her immediate family and her club family. Traci and her beloved, Allen would go on long motorcycle rides seeing the roadways of Indiana. Traci loved going to concerts with her daughters, there was no concert to far away, and it was all part of the adventure. Traci served as a Correctional Officer for the State of Indiana. She retired after 20 years, and the went to work at the local daycare until moving to Elizabethtown and becoming a stay at home mom to their daughter, Lourdes.

Traci leaves those to cherish her memories, husband, Allen Root, three daughters, Destiny Harden of Indianapolis, Avianna Sowles of Indianapolis, and Lourdes Root of Elizabethtown, a stepdaughter Timbre Barr and her husband Brandon of North Vernon, and stepsons Kayne Root of North Vernon and Logan Woodard of Columbus, and three grandchildren, Lillie, Elliot and Gabriella, and her sister Kym Worsham and her husband Jacob of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Traci’s final ride will be on Saturday September 18, 2021. Friends are invited to arrive at Mann’s Harley Davidson in Edinburgh at 11:00 am and kickstands will be up at 12 noon with the final ride ending at The Clubhouse at 400 South Jackson Park Drive of Seymour.

Memorials may be written in Traci’s name to the Root Family Benefit Ride through Zabel Funeral Home.
