Willa Dean (Lyons) Nixon, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 25, 2024, at Hoosier Christian Village. She was 88 years old.
Willa entered this life on February 21, 1936, in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Willard Lyons and Oma (Lyons) Stuller. She was the sister to Coy, James, Carolyn, Judy, and Janie.
She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and a special aunt to her nieces and nephews. Willa was a member of the Medora Christian Church, in where she was baptized. She was a breast cancer survivor. She spent many of her younger years living in Arizona, where she always wanted to return. Willa loved to create macramé’. And when the weather was just right, she would love to be in the desert riding sand rails.
She is survived by her sister Janie Branaman and her husband Bob, a son John Nixon, two grandchildren, Johnny Ray “JR” Nixon and Taylor Nixon, three great-grandchildren, Eiliana Penrod, Ivionna Nixon, and Benjamin Nixon, and several nieces and nephews.
Willa’s celebration of life will be conducted at Medora Christian Church on Saturday May 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
Friends may visit at Medora Christian Church after 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 on Saturday May 4.
Memorials may be written in Willa’s name to “Hope” Medora Goes Pink
